The Black Rock House was exactly what I needed after a long journey from New Zealand. Clean, tidy, well-equipped, spacious, and not to mention the host, Vincent, was incredibly helpful and accommodating (and cooks a great breakfast). The house isn't in the centre of Hastings, but it's a reasonable and straightforward walk into the town.

The owner and staff are warm and welcoming, and they serve an outstanding breakfast. The location can't be beat in terms of its proximity to the train, beach, and excellent restaurants. It's no wonder that Hastings House was a Four In a Bed winner! We will definitely return.
