It’s exceptionally clean. It’s located in a quiet neighbourhood. 5-7 mins walking to major bus stops. We love the tatami area where you can enjoy some food and nice time chilling. Very nice guest house with comfortable beds that feel like you are sleeping in a tree house. The kitchen had a basic equipment but still everything you need to cook simple meals. All the amenities were very clean. The guesthouse had a chill vibe, the other guests were friendly and considerate. The bar is very affordable and offers meals, too. Location is great, just a short walk (10mins) from the train station. The lady that checked us in was super friendly, gave us local recommendations and good overview of the activites in Hakone. She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and ensure we had everything we needed. Could not recommend this place more.

Went in September to spend 3 days in the area. The staff is sooooo welcoming and have an electronic translator, they are very friendly and helpful and very open to discussion. The place is not so quiet because of the train station, but it makes it very easy to travel across the Hakone region since you have all commodities and transportations down the street in front of the hotel. The room is pure classic 20th century japan and very clean, I just love the atmosphere in it. I was almost the only client so I had the footbath and onsen for me alone which was so cool ! I really recommand this place, and I'll definitely come back. 😊
