We were looking for a good location to hopefully see mount Fuji and this is perfect! Can't ever guarantee the view but we lucked out. In any case it is a beautiful place on the lake and less busy than other areas.

It was a really nice hostel where you can meet other travellers. It's homely and very comfortable compared to most hostels in Japan. The kitchen and living room area were lovely after so many hostels that had a cold atmosphere. Likewise the big spacious dormitory was great after cramped ones anywhere else I'd been.

The hostess honestly made the stay fantastic. Her attitude was so welcoming, she explained the facilities in simple Japanese for us, and gave us recommendations not only for the town, but for the Fuji area as well. I've stayed in a few ryokans before, but this was the best experience by far. We also had the Fuji-view room, which I recommend getting! We went in the late fall for viewing leaves in town, so it got quite chilly at night, but the room stayed toasty. I slept so well. The bath was also spacious, good amenities, and just the right amount of time to stay in.

Amazing food, amazing friendly hosts, brilliant relaxing location. Make sure you order breakfast, you can also ask them for dinner, which is highly recommended!

Stunning location on the shores of Lake Yamanaka with perfect Mount Fuji view from the room with huge windows. You can photograph it directly from the room and if you walk to the lake you get the mirrored Fuji angle in the lake surface early morning before the wind starts. The gentleman taking care of the hotel was very kind and even gave us a call to know if we are on our way, as we were arriving late with the highway bus having a delay because of mucht traffic! There are microwaves and water kettle downstairs and the men's and women's showers & toilets are on different floors. Will definitely stay again here, unbeatable view from room!
