This "Guest House" is huge. A family of 4+ could easily move in here and live comfortably. The back decks are beautiful to just sit and watch the jungle. It is a little way down the road from the city, which means it is quiet and very laid back. I had both a breakfast and a dinner while at the guest house. Both were great portions with a lot of variety, tasty, and well worth the money. Unfortunately, my schedule and Wendy's schedule didn't align for her bird tour. There was lots of flora and fauna to explore. My personal sightings included Toucans and a Morpha butterfly. I'm willing to bet that there was a lot I missed that Wendy could have found and shared!

Boasting a garden and views of garden, Casa del Cafe-Familiar is a guest house set in a historic building in Heredia, 40 km from Poas National Park. This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area. Such a beautiful historic home! The hosts were gracious and kind, and the grounds were beautiful! If we return and need a place to say in the San Jose area this will be at the top of the list!

This holiday home features activities with the host family such as cooking lessons, organic green housing, farm animal feed and other eco activities. Activities in the surrounding area include rafting on the Sarapiqui River, bout ride, canopy, horse back riding, bird watching, bat wathcing, frongs, chocolate tour amongst others. Large and beautiful cabin. Fully equipped kitchen. Beautiful surroundings for nature lovers. Kind and hospitable host. We took the dinner in the house and would recommend it. We also went with Wendy for a bird walk in the morning and a frog walk in the evening. We recommend them both. The trail to the waterfall is also worth trying.

Location was excellent, beautiful views, great staff. Close to many walks and forest areas. Bed was comfortable room was a good size, had a balcony with fireplace but the wood was damp so it didn't burn well. We had booked 3 nights left after 2 and the owner was very accommodating

The air-conditioned accommodation is 39 km from Poas National Park. Alejandro Morera Soto Stadium is 10 km away and Parque Viva is 12 km from the guest house. Beautiful little place with a nice host family. It's like an air BNB mixed with a hostel.
