Set within 44 km of Nagano Station and 45 km of Zenkoji Temple in Hakuba, Hakuba Matata Lodge features accommodation with seating area. Location of the lodge was great, easy walking distance into Echoland and a snow shuttle bus stop not far from the front door. The lodge is well appointed and the family room is very accommodating. Breakfast was great served in the lounge area which was available for use at any time with complimentary tea/coffee. The owner was so helpful with suggestions and tips prior to our arrival and the staff looking after the lodge were so friendly, very helpful and extremely customer focused. I would highly recommend the lodge.

Stay here it will really enhance your Japanese travel experience. The most perfect four room hotel in a newly built beautiful Japanese home. The hosts are warm and welcoming. It’s like staying with a favourite friend or relative. It reminded me of staying with my grandmother when I was a little girl, they were so attentive and helpful. The rooms are warm and comfortable and impeccably clean. The breakfasts were the best food I had in Japan. Fresh local fruits and delicious home made soups. Off street parking and local bus and train transportation. Lots of helpful advice on attractions in and around the Nagano area and how to get there. (We loved the ‘snow monkeys’!) There are large grocery stores just around the corner and a lovely kitchen to use to prepare meals as well as local restaurants. Watch the kids walk and bike to school along the quiet street in front of the house and then catch an easy bus to Nagano Station to explore further afield.

The room and facilities were very clean and tidy. Kitchen was well equipped. The property was quiet and calm. The hosts were lovely and we appreciated the tea :) Overall cozy and relaxing - recommend!

Situated within 32 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 41 km of Suzaka City Zoo, Shinazawa features rooms with air conditioning and a shared bathroom in Nozawa Onsen. The accommodation is lovely, with spacious rooms, comfy tatami beds, and traditional pyjamas provided. The staff is super friendly and the breakfast is excellent. There's an onsen onsite and other options nearby. An excellent dinner is available at a reasonable price. Also, Tommy's Burger is across the street. I read that some people commented on the location not being good. I'm not too sure what they were expecting. It's only a 15-10 minute walk from the ski field, and some equipment providers let you store your gear at the base, so it's a pretty easy walk. I highly recommend this accommodation and would definitely stay there again.

Everyone is very helpful. There is a very cosy atmosphere in this hostel where you can relax and also meet other people. You can rent a bike for 300 yen and cycle to every place in town. I highly recommend this hostel.
