The guest house has family rooms and facilities for disabled guests. A traditional Pingyao family home inside the city walls but away (5-10 minutes walk) from the busiest tourist part of town. The hosts are lovely. I stayed 2 nights. The first night I was the only guest and I met the family’s delightful 11 year old twin daughters. All in all a great place to feel part of an older China.

The couple who manages the property is helpful and very welcome, interesting to talk to and with plenty of good advices. Always smiley and kind, easy going, ready to help for anything you might need.

Located in Pingyao Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lao Cheng Gen Hostel is a 10-minute walk from Xianya, the former county government. It offers free bicycle rentals and free shuttle services to Pingyao Railway Station, a 5-minute drive away. All rooms come with traditional Chinese Kang bed. I liked the location and I enjoyed staying in a room that had lots of history. It was easy to walk around the city, with many shops and interesting historical sites to see.

Datong Yunzhong Traditional Courtyard is located in Datong Ancient Town, a 5-minute walk from Huayan temple and Nine Dragon Wall. It is a quadrangle courtyard Inn with traditional decoration. Free Wi-Fi access is available. Location was the best, the hotel is renovated is extremely clean, you feel welcomed like home! Definitely recommend for visiting Datong. Staff speaks English and is very friendly and helpful!
