The owners are clearly committed to sustainable living and care about the area, organizing beach clean-ups and other events, and reminding guests of the impact of their decisions on the environment. The rooms are simple and basic, but everything is of good quality and comfortable: furniture, lighting, bedding, etc. The common room and the kitchen are very cozy, practical and well-stocked. Great place to learn about other community initiatives in the area.

Uchi is situated in Matsushima, 200 metres from Zuigan-ji Temple. Guests can enjoy listening to music or watching TV in the common area. You will find a shared lounge at the property. The guesthouse is in a great location, close to the pier and the temple. The room and facilities were exceptionally clean. And most importantly the host is so friendly and helpful! He speaks perfect English and was eager to talk about Japanese culture and listen about ours :) I couldn’t recommend more!

Great value for money if you want to stay in Kesennuma for a night. Location is ~30 minutes by foot from the train station or ~10 minutes by BRT (which runs to and from the station). Staff was very friendly and speaks english well enough. Facilities were clean.

Our room was spacious and the beds were comfortable. The guesthouse was about a four minute walk from the train station, and an eleven minute walk to the supermarket. Hiro, the owner, was super nice and friendly ^^

Open from 2016, Traveler's Wharf Shichigahama is a 60-year-old Japanese-style accommodation with views of the sea. We absolutely loved our stay at Traveler’s Wharf Shichgahama. Taka is a wonderful host - attentive, accommodating and we really enjoyed getting to know him a little bit. He took excellent care of us, anticipating our needs and showing great hospitality. He picked us up from the train station, and advised us on activities in the area. I would highly recommend you stay here if you are looking for a quiet, low key place close to the beach.
