I loved the hostel. It was exceptionally clean. Very comfortable. Well appointed. It has a lovely kitchen and dining room. Also a relaxing outdoor terrace. The owner ,Rui , was a most helpful host. He even provided back medication for a pulled muscle. He also took the time and trouble to ease a potential problem at the airport.Our sincere thanks to Rui. My friend and I had a very enjoyable stay. We will be back to Hostel A Casa da Arvore.

I had a great experience at Penguin and have only good things to say about my stay. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there is an overall positive community feeling there. The room was well-maintained and I felt safe during my whole stay. It's a great location, 15 minutes from the bus and train stations and only a short few minutes walk from the center of town. The free breakfast every morning and ability to use the kitchen is a huge plus as well :)

The room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The owner takes care of the guests in an excellent way by preparing fruits and wine for their use, so you can try that. I have never slept on such a comfortable bed. The bathroom is very large and comfortable. Everything was well-prepared.

No contact service went smooth and the host was very easy to reach when needed. The room was perfect fit for short stay, clean, with AC and we even had access to a fridge in the common area

Such a beautiful building with huge roof terrace. Authentic feeling in the corridor (tiles on the floor and walls etc). Spacious and big hostel on several floors with many rooms. The room and the bed was prepared perfectly, everything was clean and fresh. Each floor has a kitchen and many bathrooms. Locker was also provided. Location is great, only couple minutes to the very centre. Vegan restaurant (they offer buffet) is also just next door!
