Nestled in Langdale Valley, this hostel also boasts free WiFi, home-cooked food, cycle storage and is also just 2 minutes’ walk from the local pub. I had a great stay at Elterwater Hostel! The staff was extremely friendly & welcoming and the Hostel itself is a lovely place. There is a big common and dining room, which is very cozy. The kitchen is very spacious and well equipped. It is also very clean (haven't seen anything comparable in any other hostel so far), so are the rooms and bathroom facilities. All over, I would really recommend Elterwater Hostel and would love to come back anytime! Also the breakfast is really good! The Hostel is also very well located. That means if you aren't traveling by car you can still easily reach many hiking destinies, which are either directly around the corner or just a bus ride away. There is a bus stop within two minutes walking distance of the Hostel.

The staff were caring and helpful in an agreeable and sincere manner. The location is magnificent, situated at the forefront of Lake Windermere. Despite not being located on the main high street in Ambleside, this distance adds to its tranquility."

It was across the street from the Greta River and right beside the old rail line that is now a walk/run/bike trail. It is a 5-10 minute walk into the centre of town and just over 10 minutes to Derwent Lake. My bed was in the annex with the main building with all the kitchen/dining area/common room in the neighbour building about 5 metres away. I loved everything!

Very welcoming host , with loads of helpful information. We were 2 couples travelling on motorbikes and on street parking was safe and secure. Shared bathroom excellent for 2 couples together. Breakfast was great Bed was very comfortable, with a great location
Great location and great hostel. Staff were friendly and helpful and the lounge room has a great view!
Beautiful grounds, amazing views, great location. Cost of the apartment was cheap and suitable for our budget. Bedrooms were a decent size with comfortable big bed and bedding.
First time we have been to Windermere and we were on a budget, great stay and great location!
Felt safe, good communication from staff. This was my first time staying in a hostel for a walking weekend but I'd come back again.
Very clean and comfortable. Good value for money. Great location between Bowness and Windermere shops, pubs, and restaurants. Easy access with keysafe. Martin was a helpful host with information on the local area we asked for as we have not stayed in Windermere before.
Great location if you want to be in walking distance of everything in Bowness (steep access to the hotel so not for those with mobility issues). We had a family room in the building over the road from the hotel - Oak House with two singles pushed together and large bunk beds for the kids. Large size bathroom. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfy. Polite and professional staff.
Cheap and cheerful. Good facilities for a bargain hostelry. Have stayed before and will return over winter. Great location for Park Run and walk up Skiddaw
Great value for money. Our room was a really good size for a family of four with a double and bunk bed for our two boys the mattresses were comfortable. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean with a modern feel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring the North lakes on a budget and only 12 minutes drive away from Keswick.
Good value stay. The staff were friendly and efficient. I was slightly apprehensive about how the stay would be in Covid times but all was good and clean with safety measures in place. Great location for walking. My only negative point would be would be the lack of packed lunches, or just a simple sandwich would have been great. I know the hostel used to provide this service. Apart from that our stay was most enjoyable.
