Great rural alternative if you don't want to stay right in the tourist center of Valle Anton. We booked three nights and could not have been happier! The host family was really an example of panamanian hospitality, they looked after us for trips, gave us tips, and even a small tour around the neighborhood. Very sweet people. Auxi, the host, is an English teacher, so you will have no problems with communication. We loved the stay as it gave us an idea of rural panamanian life and access to more hidden spots to visit (including the 'Pozo azul', which you need to go to). Recommend!

Taca Tucan Hostel Farallon Panama offers pet-friendly accommodation in Playa Blanca, 30 km from Penonomé. All rooms have a shared bathroom and access to a shared kitchen. 3 min walk to the beach, the hosts are wonderful, rooms are comfortable, and the showers were lovely. There is a relaxing common area at the back under shelter with hammocks to escape the midday heat and a mini supermarket 2 doors down.
