A short walk will find you in the village centre with access to cafes and restaurants. Lake Taupo boat ramp, Tokaanu thermal pools, the national trout centre and mini golf are all within 5 minutes drive. And a cruisy 20min drive will take you to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. When you’re finished exploring for the day, you’ll find the Alpine House is where the heart is. Cosy up to the wood-burner fire after a long day in the outdoors, unwind with a glass of wine or a cold one, and start planning tomorrow's big adventure. Abel Tasman National Park is the smallest National Park in New Zealand, but it is one of the most scenic. Abel Tasman boasts pristine white sandy beaches, tranquil estuaries and wonderful forested headlands. The Coastal Track is world famous, and visitors can choose to explore it on their own, or with a guide. Other ways to explore the coastline include sea kayaking, yacht, or water taxis. At the southern entrance to Abel Tasman National Park there is fantastic opportunity for visitors to swim with seals.
