Jeffreys Bay, the home of the ‘perfect wave’, is a town in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. It is famous amongst surfers as a surf capital due to the right-hand point break at Supertubes Beach. Jeffreys Bay is one of the five most famous surfing destinations in the world and hosts the annual World Surf League (WSL) surfing event at Super Tubes during July. Apart from Supertubes, there are numerous surf spots where one can safely ride up to 3m waves. These include Kitchen Windows, Magnatubes, Boneyards, Phantoms and the Albatross. Jeffreys Bay is also a popular vacation destination, and over the Festive season in December an estimated 150 000 visitors, both local and international, descend upon the town for their share of golden beach sand, sunshine and holiday festivities. Despite the influx of people trying to escape the concrete jungles of the larger cities, this town still retains its unique surfer element, epitomized in the relaxed, friendly atmosphere deep-rooted in the locals. The town is situated just off the N2 Highway, about 75 kilometers southwest of Port Elizabeth and about 30 kilometers from Cape Saint Francis.
