My family of 4 did the Christmas day concert and dinner.
My family of 4 did the Christmas day concert and dinner. The concert was fantastic! I wish that I had splurged a bit more and paid for the VIP dinner, however, which I think would have put us upstairs in the more intimate and quiet dining room. While the dinner was actually very good, all the guests came over from the concert at the same time and were seated at large banquet style tables. There was not really enough staff to attend to all the guests who arrived all at once. We waited for every part of our meal. The room was very crowded and noisy. My husband asked for a coffee that was forgotten about and never arrived.

My husband and I loved the fortress-but be prepared to climb lots of steps. Also, the earlier you go, the better! We did the early bird (before 10am) and were really happy we did because the crowds get bigger as the day goes on.

Love the Fortress, history is well preserved, take the audio walking tour for sure. Plan several hours to just walk around and have lunch there too. Definitely attend a Mozart concert in the castle if you can, it's amazing.

Take few steps from Mozart birth place and you are walking strait around Cathedral of Saint Peter, take elevator there for few EUR and stay in that elevator as low as You can, You will be rewarded by fantastic view over this gorgeous city, it is very short, so enjoy it.
Don't forget to take stairs there right when you get off elevator, because they have very nice and to the point whole history of this huge fortress or Monastery on TV explaining all
Don't buy anything there it is quite expensive and You can get same thing as souvenir etc. near river in the store BILLA - same as Walmart here, very reasonable price for anything and everything is there. Those Billa stores are all over city.

Worth it just for the views from there.
Worth it just for the views from there. It was confusing what museums and where to go to see which were included in the funicular ride. That was fun. When it’s sunny, it’s very glaring and hot from the white buildings and all the stone.
