First a foremost, it is the most magical cloud forest...
First a foremost, it is the most magical cloud forest environment and I sure hope they can save it for future generations. Just take the time to walk peacefully and quietly and you will be in awe of nature and all its wonders. We will be returning. If you can just stay at the lodge, if you do you get a fine room - you are already in the reserve and get three meals a day. You get your entrance fee everyday you stay and can stay a little longer at night. Dont' miss the Hummingbird Garden. Great bird watching guides and night guides.

I liked the cloud forest, some nice walking trails and a couple of bridges to cross, we went on a wet day so didn't see great views and no wildlife visible to us on this day. I think it is worth a visit if you really like this sort of thing and have spare time but do feel it's quite expensive at $25 p.p. and maybe you wouldn't miss out on much if you didn't go.rosieUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Touring national park w/ Ricardo Guindon (?45-year-old son of one of the original quaker settler founders) FANTASTIC. Bats, owl moth, blue morpho, giant caterpillars & centipedes, armadillo - &also the whole Quaker history &the country’s interest in holding its beautiful heart-opening biological diversity &commitment to a Pura Vida as its real riches. Monteverde is 15 deg colder than all the rest of CostaRica, bring wool, silk, or polar fleece sweater: did not actively rain, just blew clouds of 98% humidity all the time. Drive here passes coffee &sugarcane plantations as well as many working vaqueros. BEAUTIFUL Fonda Vela Hotel reservations@fondavela.com 50626455125 ext. 1220 BEAUTIFUL as a setting, both grounds &room, a lovely place to unwind AND for bird observation -saw more beautiful birdlife here than in Monteverde Reserve; walk grounds, bring GOOD binocs; wd have been a pleasant place for 3-4 days -- more hanging bridges here. Don’t forget to visit the hummingbird coffee shop outside the cloud forest. Question the tour guild prices as it appeared they were charging different prices to different people? We were told it was $45 pp yet another person was charged $20

The Monte Verde Cloud Forest is made even more stunning and enchanting if you go on a tour with Adam. Adam is passionate about the fauna and flora of the forrest. He is able to spot the shyest of birds and butterflies, capture their glory with his telescope with enough time for all on the tour to look through and photograph/video through. Adam works with local organization to plant wild avocado trees which nourish the resplendent quetzal (we saw three on the first 15 minute of our tour with him) so he is knowledgeable about the conservation history of the area. In addition to his extensive knowledge he is humble, pleasant accommodating, and will answer any questions you might have unless he hears a bird in the distance.
