Pula Arena

Amazingly well preserved, this amphitheatre is the only one in the world to have four side towers remain intact. Starting life out in the first century AD, the once sand-floored venue is truly vast. Each year, the Pula Film Festival takes place in the arena and there are weekly recreations of gladiator fights.

Make sure you head to the section below the arena.

Make sure you head to the section below the arena. You can't get into this space in the Colosseum in Rome, so to be able to do it here is an amazing treat. Check in advance to see if there are performances on before you arrived. We did not know to do this and could have seen Robbie Williams perform in this ancient ruin! (it also meant it was closed for a couple od days for other visitors whilst the stage set was in place- bump out was super quick and it was back open the day after the last event)

fantastic building but we went on the last week of the season in October. Unfortunately they had packed away the audio equipment advertised as part of the price so although the place was amazing we felt cheated a bit as we could only look round not hear about the history, however the building was amazing and the cellar wine making equipment was very interesting

I could witness the first day of the Pula film festival. It was ok! If you do not speak Croatian it gets tough to understand. The first day you get in Pula, go to the arena to buy tickets for some performances. Sometimes trere are battle presentaions.

The host was really friendly and sweet, they left us a welcome gift some wine and a cake. when we left they gave us a small gift and wished a safe travel. The apartment was well equipped with all the appliances you need in everyday life, a capsule coffee machine, dishwasher, oven, washing machine, and all small cutlery you need. The location was really good, 5 minute walk to Pula Arena and 10 min walk to all the tiny shops and main streets.

Perfect place, close to city center but also quite during the night. So location - fantastic, the apartment itself very cosy, quite, equipped with air conditioning, all facilities for cooking (it was important for me as we were travelling with small children), laundry, cleaning, lots of towels and blankets. Pula Arena is so close, Barbary opens at 5:30 just 50 meters form the apartment - perfect place!

Nice apartment in a great location. It's close to both the Pula Arena and the main bus station. There is supermarket nearby. Very comfy folding couch, which can serve as a second bed. Amazing shower, even if it leaked a bit.

Hotel staff is amazing! It feels like being home. The ladies on the reception and in the buffet are so kind and professional. Hotel is tiny, but it is very cute. Location is also great, just 100m from Pula Arena (Colosseum).

Brilliant, modern apartment with a fantastic view overlooking the Pula Arena (and the western part of the old town in general). This means you have a 5-10 minute stroll into the centre but we kinda like that anyway. The terrace and view is a huge highlight but the room is also spacious and with great facilities. There is a free parking lot that Dora helped us with, a 2-minute walk away.

The apartment is located at a very good spot. Close to the Old town, the marina and only 140m from Pula Arena. It looked really new and clean, having everything for a short or long term family vacation and we found it better than in the pictures. Host is very communicative and helpful. Parking area nearby is relatively cheap than other spots in Pula.
