Everything opens on the later side.

Everything opens on the later side. So don’t rush getting up early to shop. You can enjoy getting up leisurely and even sleeping in a bit. Then find a good parking a walk around everywhere in town. We stay on this street so it was very convenient. Perfect actually!

A mix of the mundane and eclectic.

A mix of the mundane and eclectic. Certainly the main shopping tourist strip and worth it to walk its length and get a feel for urban Iceland before encountering the awesome natural landscapes of Iceland. Expensive for day to day commodities but that's standard throughout the country.

Everything is expensive. Everything. Bring funds.

Everything is expensive. Everything. Bring funds. 😂 We had Icelandic hotdogs for lunch, the cheapest meal we could find at isk 6000 each, a great little place near the church, and delicious with the crispy onions. And we paid isk 20000 for two bad coffees and a shared pecan tart (ok) in the afternoon. But it was really a beautiful area to walk around in, check out the stores (Iceland's souvenir shops are so classy, with none of that made in china stuff you see in north america😂), and to enjoy the air.

Comparative shop, as you will see the same item priced very differently depending on the shop. A great variety to purchase, from typical souvenirs (key chains, magnets, t-shirts) to items more representative of the culture (various salts, knitwear, etc.).
