Ponte Vecchio
Peruse the shops perched above the River Arno on this pedestrian bridge. Dating back to 972, its history is the stuff of storybooks. Ponte Vecchio’s seen it all from noble feuds to ruinous floods. Once a market where vendors sold meat, the smell of raw flesh tossed in the Arno disgusted the Medici dukes. Today’s retailers are much less carnivorous (they’re jewellers).

You have to buy something from 18-karat gold here☺️! It’s not cheap but gold is tradition in Florence ( and leather). But be prepared that it’s only not crowded in the morning (when only few shops are open though).

Our hotel was adjacent to this attraction so we had a daily view of it. The photo shown by booking.com does not resemble what it looked like in December. The bridge itself is wall to wall jewellery shops. A good time to visit is before or after they close. The shop fronts change back to the original wooden frontage and makes for a good photo.

Since I visited Florence four times in the 21 years, I know enough where to choose as accomandation. On our last visit, we took an apartment on the southern side of the river, the Bridge was just below our window. The city view is both fantastic and classic. It is the apartment with almost the same view of the location of the "hotel room" where the film "Room with a view" was shot. It is like a dream coming true.

We went in November so I'm not sure if maybe they don't have lights at night during the colder months but we were bummed when we went at night and couldn't really see anything. Go during the day to see the full affect!

This place is simply too overcrowded with street peddlers and tourists. It is hard to take a decent photos. Nevertheless, it is pretty lively and vibrant. Take some time to admire the artworks of the local artists as they nimbly sketch the beautiful views from Ponte Vecchio.

The apartment looked better than in the pictures, which was a great surprise. Marco is very friendly and was available when we needed him. The location is great. Although it's central (20mins walk from Ponte Vecchio), it's still very quiet. There's a nice bar/cafe in the corner and also the supermarket is only a short walk from the apartment.
The location is excellent with easy walking to all Florence attractions. The panoramic view of Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio and Arno river is breathtaking. The apartment is very spacious and has everything one needs on vacation. We stayed for longer making it our base for in depth exploring Florence and taking multiple day trips to other towns in Tuscany. It is an easy walk to train station too. Management promptly replied to our requests.
Very well equipped with all you need. The heating was working good and this was needed as it was quite chilly when we were there in April. The bus station is just in front of the house and you can see the screen showing the departure time of the buses, perfect. In 20 minutes you are directly at Ponte Vecchio. The apartment is extremely quiet, despite the main road in front you hear nothing in the sleeping room. Just across the road is an excellent pizzeria and there is a bakery and grocery in walking distance (actually 1 minute away).
everything was perfect and Lucilla is an amazing host! she was extremely helpful. the apartment is just a few steps from Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti. it was clean and comfortable.
The apartment was clean and very quiet at the rear of the building so we avoided all the noise from the street below and slept very well. Comfy beds and nice bed linen. Windows have shutters and there is air conditioning in both bedrooms. We were in a two bed apartment number 3. The location was fantastic just around the cornet from the Palazzo Vecchio and just a couple of hundred yards from the Ponte Vecchio. Good size dining room with large table. Good value overall given the location and cleanliness. Host was very pleasant.
I liked this apartment very much. The location was nice, the room was clean, sunlight coming in, plenty of storage, and enough space for three people. The bed and sofa bed were comfy. Matias the host was always there to support our stay immediately after I made the reservation. He promptly responded to our questions. His colleague Tommaso was also supportive. He showed us the apartment and kindly responded to our questions about where to eat.
Next time I come to Firenze, I will again stay at Giorgio Ponte Vecchio Apartment.
The location was excellent within 2 min walk of the Ponte Vecchio and very close to heaps of nice shops and restaurants. The apartment was decently clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
I was on the second floor which meant stairs or a small elevator. It was great and I loved the hotel. The location is unreal and the Oltrano area feels little less touristy. Florence is super busy on the Ponte Vecchio and near the Duomo so it was nice to be close but far enough away from the busy crowd. The terrace has an unreal view of the Duomo and the hills behind Florence.
Wonderful, quiet, loft apartment in a modern building just 15 minutes from the main train station in Florence and only half an hour from the Ponte Vecchio.
Marian is a wonderful hostess who met me at the flat. She also gave some great sightseeing tips.
It has 2 bathrooms, both with showers, but one with a bath too and this was most appreciated, as was the washing machine.
A great hotel located on the heart of the city. From here it took 10 minutes to get to Ponte Vecchio.
The hotel inside has an amazing Italian vibe, you kinda feel at home
All facilities were nice.
Overall, a perfect option to stay in Florence!
Highly recommend!
