A historical reminder that's stood the test of time, this is...
A historical reminder that's stood the test of time, this is a sombre place to visit because of what it depicts -- but the Dome, Museum and adjacent park are all must-see if you're stopping by in Hiroshima. We went there to educate and learn about the past horrors witnessed by this place and see how the city's a remarkable example of forgiveness and looking forward. It was a privilege to have experienced it all!

Because part of the prior government building is still standing it does not truly convey the devastation this part of the city encountered as a result of the bomb. Such a visible reminder; it is fitting that it cam be seen from many parts of the city

Our sons (22 and 17) wanted to go to Hiroshima to visit. I was not sure what to expect. Subject is tough, but museum is very well designed. Our 17 year-old son read absolutly everything in the museum. An unforgetable visit.

It was interesting to see, but the museum is factually...
It was interesting to see, but the museum is factually inaccurate and fails to adequately address Japan's overly aggressive expansion and military campaign including the unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor. They also factually distort the US's role and decision in using the bomb on Japan. The museum does present a strong argument for denuclearization throughout the world.

Difficult to imagine the horror, but this monument allows you to focus on a REAL OBJECT...which helps some kind of process...the whole area allows contemplation...and quiet reflection...it’s a thoughtful and peaceful approach to a very horrible event.

Right around the corner there were endless choices of Hiroshima okonomiyaki shops, arcades, close to the atomic bomb dome and peace park and the ferry to Mayajima. Comfortable bed, average sized room.

On top of that, there's a convenience store right besides the entrance of the hotel. The hotel staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about how to get around and what to see as well. Finally, the room is small but it had everything I needed to enjoy my stay at Hiroshima.

If you are using a JR pass you can take the Meipuru-pu bus for free by showing it to the driver and get off very very close to the hotel.
