You can purchase tickets for Nijo Castle online and do remember to take the full package which includes the tour of the palace (sorry, can't remember what it's called) which housed the Daimyo back then and has since been maintained. Very nice historical trip!

I think Nijo Castle is a beautiful and fascinating place to...

I think Nijo Castle is a beautiful and fascinating place to visit. It is one of the best-preserved examples of a Japanese castle, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The castle is known for its ornate architecture and its beautiful gardens. I particularly enjoyed seeing the Ninomaru Goten Palace, which is the main building in the castle. The palace is full of beautiful paintings and sculptures, and it gives a glimpse into the life of the shoguns, the military rulers of Japan during the Edo period. I also enjoyed walking through the Ninomaru Garden, which is a beautiful Japanese garden with ponds, waterfalls, and stone lanterns. The garden is a great place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Kyoto. Overall, I think Nijo Castle is a must-see for anyone visiting Kyoto. It is a beautiful and fascinating place to learn about the history and culture of Japan. Here are some additional thoughts about Nijo Castle: The castle is located in a convenient location in Kyoto, and it is easy to get to by public transportation. There is a lot to see and do at the castle, including the Ninomaru Goten Palace, the Ninomaru Garden, and various other buildings and exhibits. The castle is well-preserved and well-maintained. The staff at the castle is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend a visit to Nijo Castle if you are looking for a beautiful and informative experience in Kyoto.

The first 4 floors are just museum floors - art, history of the castle, etc. If you just want to see the incredible panoramic view at the top get in the line for the elevator which skips those middle floors and goes to the 5th. Otherwise you will have to climb all the flight of stairs regardless if you want to see what's on them. Get there early though - the elevator line gets very long very quickly and the entrance line is just as bad. People start queuing up in line before it even opens.

The main part of the castle is closed and completely covered by scaffolding. There was no discount to the ticket or real acknowledgement of this at the entrance to the castle, so we felt pretty bamboozled by the time we walked in. It was a heck of a disappointment. The other sections of the grounds that were open were amazing, so I'm sure we would have loved the castle if we could go in it. The plum blossoms were also starting to bloom and they were stunning.

The castle is still undergoing major renovation so you won't see all there is to see. It seemed annoying at first that all the rooms contain replacement screens but having paid to see the originals in the gallery (which isn't up to much) I actually think you have a better impression of what it was like seeing replicas. I haven't seen anywhere else like it in Japan. The gardens were also lovely.

Nijo Castle is definately a must see.

Nijo Castle is definately a must see. You can spend about 5 hours here just reading all the information. Very informative and the wall paintings were just beautiful. The dressed figures of the Shoguns gave a cultural feel of what it would have been like. It was another amazing Castle on our Japan holiday

I really enjoyed my stay at this boutique hotel. The room was extremely clean and modern, and the bed was VERY comfortable. Kyoto sites are generally pretty spread out, but this hotel was nicely located for walks to Nijo Castle, The Imperial Palace, Nishiki Market and along Kamo River to the Shimogamo Shrine (all of which were recommended by Front Desk staff). It was also very close (<5 mins) to a couple of subway lines, one of which I took from Kyoto Station to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We love how spacious the room was and was able to fit all of us. The room was very comfortable and beautiful. love that their was a grocery store right across the street for all of our snack needs. The hotel is also very close to the bus station. We had 3 day Kansai Thru Passes and had not issues with bus transportation. The location was very quiet and safe. It was walking distance from the Imperial Palace and the Nijo Castle.

The rooms are very large compared to other hotels I've stayed at in Japan. Rooms were equipped with the standard things you would find at other hotels. The lobby was nice and had many amenities that you could take up to your room. The staff spoke English and always said goodbye and welcome as you left/come back to the hotel. The hotel is located close to Omiya station and is a close walk to Nijo castle. Beds were comfortable.

Located just around the corner from Omiya bus and subway station, this hotel was a good base to explore Kyoto from. Some sightseeing destinations, like Nijo Castle, can easily be reached by foot. The whole building seemed to be constructed recently and the interior is thus pretty modern.
