You can park at a viewing point 500mtrs up the hill from the main car park which has a 30 minutes max stay. The viewing point has no time limit and there is a cool path down to falls. 15 to 20 mins walk. Of course you will have to walk back to get your car. 10 mins up the road.

On the outskirts of Taupo, this is a very impressive view - lots of water power here. There are great walks around here, from 15 minutes to several hours. Plenty of parking. Clean toilets. Well laid out. FREE!! Feeling the bridge vibrate with the power of the river flow is incredible. Watching the jet boats scream up river to the waterfall base is definitely a photo worthy opportunity. Good bike and walking tracks.

It’s only a short walk if you park at the falls do even if in a hurry you can still get to see these falls. They are not spectacular in that they have a long drop but the water colour is beautiful and it’s interesting to see a more horizontal waterfall. With a toddler unless they want to play with the leaves/nature it will likely be a quick stop. Very easy path. Suitable for a pushchair. There is also a lookout on the opposite bank with an entrance less than 200m from Huka Falls which gives different photos and is best to see the jet from, if it's out.NicoleNew Zealand

A fantastically quiet location, which we appreciated. The top apartment was occupied for part of our stay buy this wasn't an issue what so ever. Loved watching the fantails. The local shopping centre is lovely.

By the time I came to book the price was $170 per night which I challenged. On arrival I was told that Huka Falls would honor the original price quoted at $162. This was very pleasing and I will recommend this venue to others and definitely use in future visits.

Very relaxed hostel and good kitchen/shower facilities. The rooms were fine, pods a little hard to get into if you're top bunk and quite hot! But nice and private personal area at least. Enjoyed the hammocks outside.
