Don't miss this, even if it means going out of your way.
Don't miss this, even if it means going out of your way. The museums tell the story of NZ and its people in an even handed and self critical way that makes one think .. There is a relaxing cafe on the grounds and leafy, well maintained trails and arbor walks.

We ran out of time visiting everywhere else, but definitely on the next holiday list. Thank you to the local guides that stopped and had a chat with us about the history. Checkout the Waitangi treaty grounds website for more details! You need 1-2 days for the visit and the price of entry includes guided tours and a Maori performance as well as the history.

This is a must do.
This is a must do. Our Maori tour guide was hugely informative and entertaining. It is an excellent introduction to the history of the country and its evolution. It is also beautiful and peaceful with lots to see. We could have spent a lot longer there.

Excellent!
Excellent! Your admission is good for two days; they do not need to be consecutive but they expect you to come within a day or two. Lots to see in the museum so come back when you have more time if pressed on the day you do the tour and cultural experience.

Beautiful spot and buildings and displays beautifully set out. Enjoyed the first half of the tour as it was informative and it was great seeing a waka up close for the first time and see how they were constructed however did not enjoy the talk that followed as it lacked balance ie no mention of how Maori and Government having been working together for many years now to address past injustices and was just a very lengthy monologue from I think the speakers personal perspective which gives visitors an incomplete picture and gives no credence to Maori Elders and Government who work very hard for years to bring a settlement to fruition.

I really liked the location across from the beach and it was in walking distance of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds also another point next to the petrol stations theres a diary and cafe, around corner fish and chips. I appreciated the milk and chocolate, water that were left for us in the fridge that was a lovely gesture.
The manager, Winnie, was exceptionally helpful with advice on restaurants and laundry procedures, as well as with booking the Cape Reinga tour. I enjoyed the quiet of the end unit. It was a pleasant walk to Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
I really enjoyed my stay at Centabay, even though it was for one night. Lots of light and air circulation in the rooms. Beds were comfy and sheets were clean. I didn't use the kitchen but it seemed fully stocked. Very walkable location with restaurants close by. Pleasant walk to Waitangi Treaty Grounds and the beach too.
Very clean and well laid out room. Just on the north end if town but very handy to all facilities and the Waitangi Treaty grounds. Very hospitable hosts who went out of their way to assist us with any queries we had.
This wee 2 bedrooms appartment was perfect for our stay. The views are great, the location is faboulous too. It's walking distance to a supermarket, Waitangi Treaty grounds, the beach, the center of town. Yet it's not on the main road so it is quieter. The appartement was clean, well equiped. Soap, shampoo, body butter etc. were supplied. The garage is massive and the door is electric. It will be a great bonus for those who will be travelling with boats etc.
Location & view from balcony. Even though bit out from the town centre you could walk there in 18-20 mins ( didn’t want to keep navigating the motel parking), Supermarket 10 min walk, Waitangi Treaty grounds 20 mins Bed was comfortable. View fantastic. Logan the manager was knowledgeable on the area, things to do and see and so many other interesting items.
The apartment was very well equipped, spacious, comfortable, quiet, friendly, and very convenient for the shops, restaurants, waterfront, and Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Lovely bathroom and shower. Great value for money.
I liked the fact that the Family Room had two seperate rooms. Great location to explore Paihia and to visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds.
Sheets and beds were clean which was a big plus.
Locality to the local shops and eateries. Close to outdoor activities and sites to see like Waitangi Treaty Grounds and the local wharf to enjoy water sports.
