The host was really communicative and helpful with picking me up from the bus station and booked a bus for me to return to Hanoi as well. The food prices were reasonable. There were friendly cats and dogs on the property as well as some cute kiddos. Also on the day of my solo hike, the owner texted me in the evening to make sure I had gotten out of the woods safely - very thoughtful!

It's was amazing time, i love Cat Ba than a lot of place i've been, there is quite, not too much tourist and i don't have to pay a lot. Chilly, the homestay host, made all the travel arrangements for us from Hanoi and back again, which took away all the hassle. The highlight of our stay was a sunset picnic at Ba Trai Dao, when we kayaked among the phosphorescent plankton after dark. Meals are served in a communal dining room, which allowed us to get to know other people staying there. Altogether a lovely, restful place.
