Set in Newcastle, 1.4 km from University of Newcastle and 3.5 km from Energy Australia Stadium, Blue Wren Lodge Waratah offers accommodation with free WiFi, air conditioning, a garden and a shared lounge.

It was clean, tidy, quiet and provided all facilities that you would normally get in a more expensive Hotel/Motel. Close to the University and good value for money.

Communication regarding checking in and checking out was good (it was all via text, which suited me). My room was clean and comfortable. Whilst there was only a kettle and small fridge in the room, there was a communal full kitchen /dining area for meal prep (reminiscent of a hostel or ski lodge). Limited free on-site parking or alternatively street parking. The location was very quiet, away from busy roads and adjacent to bushland.

Clean large room. A bit basic but it was a good price. Large clean shower facilities. Good value overall. A bit like a travel lodge in the UK. Basic but clean.

The Blue Wren Lodge is located at the end of a quiet street so there was very little street noise. The room and common areas were clean and fresh. The bed was comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was adequate for a short stay. I chose not to have my room serviced so had no interactions with staff other than the helpful emails containing information related to access and instructions for my departure. I would definitely recommend the Blue Wren Lodge and would stay there again.

I booked this hotel mainly because of the good experience with other Travelodges but i was wrong. There are better options around.

The best thing about travelodge is the reception staff. Location is good if you are using the train. Nearby to waterfront, a great cafe and mall for your basic shopping needs.
