Located less than 10 minutes' drive from Parliament House and Canberra city centre, this hotel features a limited transfer service and on-site bar. Select rooms feature balconies. I like the place that is near the places that we visited.

Red Cedars Motel is a 2-minute walk from the Exhibition Park and a 10-minute walk from Watson Shopping Centre. It offers barbecue facilities and free on-site parking. The reception staff were really lovely to deal with. My hotel room was presented to a very high standard. There was everything one could ask for, including a TV, iron and ironing board, a microwave, cutlery, a table and chairs, an outdoor area with a little garden. The air conditioning worked well, as it needed to! The hotel is located in the northern ACT suburb of Watson, not far from the Federation Highway, but far enough away that the room was really quiet. While I was in Canberra I went to the National Portrait Gallery, which is easy to get to from the Hotel. There is a collection of photographs of indigenous people, including the recently deceased Archie Roach. The funniest portrait is the woman in the leather jacket with her fingers pointing to her ears. This portrait is ironically called The Vegan In The Leather Jacket. Also there is an excellent portrait of Senator Patrick Dodson. (Permission was given to take pictures). I strongly recommend a trip up to Mount Ainslie both during the day and at night, where you receive a magnificent view of Canberra.

Set amongst 22-acres of landscaped gardens, Sundown Villas features an outdoor swimming pool. 15 minutes’ drive from Canberra Centre, the property offers free parking. The rooms were clean, all facilities were there as promised, loved the shower. The space is a gated community with bbq , swimming pool and a tennis court. Kids loved the place coz they got the freedom to walk around and play with friends freely.

Just 8 minutes’ drive from the Australian War Memorial, Lyneham Motor Inn offers budget accommodation with air conditioning and a flat-screen TV. Highly recommended. Clean, well maintained and very accessible, walking distance to shopping center and approx 5 mins drive to Gio Stadium.
