I liked everything about this hotel but my most favorite part was that we could walk barefoot in the entire hotel, a lot more hotels could do that. The check-in was smooth, our luggage was placed in our room by the staff, staff who was friendly and helpful during our entire stay there. The room was clean and the dimensions perfect, not too small (there's a nook big enough to fit 2 huge suitcases) - plus, we had a view of the train tracks which for us is a plus (if you close the windows the noise from the train is diminished so no problem here). They have this amazing onsen that you can use from 3PM until 10AM (one of the pools is built under the open sky which is the best thing when it comes to onsens); after taking a bath you can check their pretty extensive manga collection (there are chairs and a desk where you can sit and read to your heart's content) and have ice cream (for free). You can have free coffee and juice and also a free late evening snack (soba/ramen mostly). 5 mins walk from the train station. Seriously, I can't imagine what is there not to like about this hotel (considering also the price which is more than fair).

Ein perfekt gelegenes Hotel, nah an Skiliften des Happo One. Skibusse auch direkt vor dem Hotel gelegen. Leckere deutsche Küche mit verschiedenen Schnitzelgerichten, Käsespätzle und Glühwein! Bernd und Naoko waren super nett und hilfreich. Zimmer waren groß und gemütlich, es hat uns nichts gefehlt.

This was a lovely traditional hotel, well located for skiing. We were transferred and collected to the slopes every day which were only about 10 mins away. The staff were exceptional and couldn't do enough for us. They would have our ski boots ready for us when we left the hotel and would book our taxis and recommend restaurants for the evening meals. The room was spacious with a living room as well as a bedroom. We had a nice view of snowy trees.

The family were helpful and generous: helping me plan my route to Kamikochi, offering a lift to the station in the early morning and providing a bike for me to go to the shop. The breakfast was superb! The bed was comfortable and the shower/ bath and toilet facilities were clean and accessible. The walk from the train station is doable, but the road is not well lit so avoid doing it in the dark.

Unbedingt ausprobieren: Das Abendessen (3500 Yen, kann vor Ort dazu gebucht werden) ist der absolute Hammer! 11 Gänge Kaiseki Menü (Getränke extra, aber moderate Preise) in Spitzenqualität! Man sollte diese Option auch deshalb in Betracht ziehen, da es in diesem Teil Naganos schwierig ist, nach 18:00 Uhr ein Restaurant zu finden, das noch geöffnet hat.

Das Haus liegt quasi direkt an der Hauptader von Nagano, man kann also sehr gut zu vielen schönen Orten zu Fuß gehen. An sich ist die Küche sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Lage ist sehr zentral in der Nähe der Nagano Station. Parken war kein Problem ... für 600 Yen die Nacht konnte man sein Auto direkt gegenüber auf einem bewachten Parkplatz abstellen. Der Mann an der Rezeption war sehr hilfsbereit. Im Doppelzimmer gab es einen kleinen Tisch mit Lesesessel.

The cabin we booked was quaint and well furnished. It’s also situated very conveniently beside the main shopping district. Shuttle buses were frequent and present to take us around.

It’s clean, very well equipped with heater, cooking utensils. The owners are so nice and friendly. Language may be a barrier but they tried really hard to accommodate all our needs. The place is slightly secluded which is perfect for quiet vacation but you can still go to town centre by just taking 1 train to Karuizawa station and the owners are nice enough to drop and pick you!

We loved the room and lobby/common area design. Myself and my two children (12yr and 14yr) loved the fort like sleeping area for the kids above the sofa bed and the storage in the steps. The beds were confortable and the shelving space along the feature wall was great. The board games, the swing and teepee, the fire, the bed like couches, the visual connection with nature, the communal tables. The space encourages connection and community amongst guests. Staff are friendly too. Closeby there was a beautiful bunch of boutique shops (artisan shops), restaurants and outdoor skating rink and nature trails.
