Set in Rantasalmi, 32 km from Kartano Golf Club, Kuru Resort offers accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. This was probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Villas by the lake are so lovely, we have enjoyed it so much that this is the first time we didn’t want to leave the accomodation. Breakfast they bring you is also lovely, the staff is lovely, you can try yoga or siesta classes… Dinner in Solitairy restaurant was an amazing experience. 10/10

Facing the beachfront in Puumala, Pistohiekka Resort features a terrace and a bar. The resort has family rooms. The units in the resort are equipped with a coffee machine. Nice place by the lake, good beach, food in restaurant was great. Breakfast delivered to room and breakfast had everything we needed. Nice nature in the area. Very suitable for families.

On the shore of Lake Saimaa and 40 minutes’ drive from Savonlinna, this rural lodge hotel offers rooms and cottage accommodation. Guests have access to a communal sauna for an extra fee. We loved the peace and tranquility of the area. The resort itself was well presented and had a relaxed atmosphere. Staff were very helpful.

Situated 50 metres from Retretti Train Station and 100 metres from Lake Pihlajavesi, Harjun Portti offers cottage accommodation with a private sauna, fully equipped kitchen and air conditioning. We were made very welcome and the chalet conformed to the description. No bad surprises. The chalet was spacious, heated before our arrival and the fireplace allowed us to spend good times inside even though it was -25 outside. The sauna in the chalet was a real plus too. Very close to the lake, the snowshoe or Nordic ski trails, it is a perfect location which gives the feeling of being in the heart of nature while being in the immediate vicinity of a clear traffic route, which is not negligible in extreme cold. I think we will come back if the opportunity arises.

Situated by Lake Saimaa, 15 minutes’ drive from Puumala, Sahanlahti has a private beach, marina and a lakeside smoke sauna. What can I say! This was my 4th stay at Sahanlahti and as every time, my only big mistake was to have stayed just 1 night. The location by the lake is just beautiful, the rooms are so well done and have a friendly, welcoming vibe, the staff are helpful, the breakfast on a terrace in the morning is a treat. During the day there are other people around visiting the facilities, and there is a small harbor for a few boats, but it all comes together to being one place of life and relaxed enjoyment and nature. For me, it does good to my stressed soul every time I stay there. Highly recommended.

Overlooking Lake Puruvesi in Punkaharju, this resort is 100 metres from a beach and 25 km from Kesämaa Adventure Park. Guests can rent canoes, motor boats and snowmobiles on site. The place was amazing. At first we thought it would be boring, but the longer we stayed, the better we enjoyed the stay. And the view from our cottage is amazing. We would definitely stay longer next time.

Situated by Lake Puruvesi, this property is 10 km from Punkaharju. It offers a restaurant, a private beach and cottages with a kitchen, sauna and lake-view terrace. Wi-Fi and parking are free. My daughter liked the horse riding. The area around the main house is nice.

Situated at Visulahti Water Park and Adventure Resort, these holiday cottages are 6 minutes’ drive from central Mikkeli. It offers free use of a tennis court, mini golf and various outdoor games. Really nice place. We enjoyed the cottage with a fire and the beautiful surrounding. And the kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook. We were there with our three kids and really enjoyed the place.
