Our host was very thorough and dedicated and ensured we had all the right logistics pinned down for our hike, bringing us bus timetables and helping us plan based on what we want to see. When we both fell ill with some sort of nasty norovirus he let us extend our checkout time for a small fee, despite the likely inconvenience. We were extremely grateful as we were in no position to start travelling again. Thank you so much!

The location couldn't be better, it is literally across the street from the airport. Bus stops are very plentiful nearby and the hotel staff is very well versed in showing you exactly which buses you need to get to your destination on the island. They are able to call taxis for you if necessary as well. All around wonderful location and very helpful staff!

The lady that runs it is the sweetest and kindest person I have ever met. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring Yakushima and the Jomonsugi hike. The rooms are comfortable and clean as those of any ryokan, and there are large onsen style baths free to use. You absolutely MUST stay here if you plan on staying anywhere on the island. We had a delicious breakfast and dinner, and Shigeru-san provided us with recommendations for what to do and where to eat on the island. The house itself was very clean, the futons so comfortable, the shared bathroom and toilets were spotless. We loved our time in Yakushima and this place played a big part in that!!

Their futon were very comfortable. Onsen is clean and sauna available too as well as a cold pool. Outdoor onsen had 2 pools to choose from.
