Even though it is very reasonable in price it has everything that you need and it's very clean. I like a tatami room like these better than a regular hotel room because the futon makes the room feel spacier. There's ample storage space in the cupboards and all expected amenities are provided. The shower is a large enough although for a large foreigner it might be a little cramped. The owner is amazing by the way, she's very friendly and easy to speak to and she made a great effort to use simpler japanese to match my basic speaking skills. She also looked up information for me about the ferry to Tashirojima. On the last day she even gave my a handwritten thank you note with a handmade onigiri and some sweets!

Really kind staff, absolutely gorgeous building, comfortable and clean bedrooms: this ryokan is a perfect affordable place to stay to explore Matsushima! You can also rest in the onsen after a long day of walking. The location and atmosphere of the ryokan is calm and quiet, and I slept extremely well.
The welcome ! The amazing garden, the "japanese" path inside the house with the sand area fully zen! The confort of this traditional house despite the winter and the snow outside! A nice and tasty breakfast ! And at the end the simple onsen with the provided yukatas Our room (japanese style) was large enough - we took the 26m2. Thank you for everything!
A beautiful Japanese Ryokan, the meals were delicious and served in you own private meal room. The onsen was great, such a lovely property I would definitely recommend staying for a couple nights and be treated to a real Japanese experience. Ski fields only a short drive away.
The onsen on the roof was fantastic, a very different way to wash oneself compared to other countries. The view from the 13th floor was phenomenal and the tatami mats around the place were really nice to walk on
This is a real Japanese inn with onsen bath in a quiet location with garden. Charming hostess who spoke a little English. Our room had a bath/shower and toilet. Excellent breakfast available.
Japanese style hotel with tatami all over and onsen. Quiet an spacious rooms with all necessary equipment and more. Good location near the central station.
A traditional japanese style ryokan, with all the bells and whistles: tatami floor, futon beds, yukata, own onsen. The room was lovely, the food tasty and the owners extremely friendly. Can only recommend.
The hotel was really great for the price. Everything is traditional Japanese; tatami everywhere and you take your shoes off right at the entrance rather than walking to your room with them. Onsen is not tattoo-friendly so I did not use, but I went to Yamagata one day to use the hot spring there instead. Breakfast was terrific, with many small plates to try lots of the food of Sendai. The staff was extremely helpful, and gave me suggestions for where to eat harakomeshi.
