Kids loved the heated pool and spa, especially in May. Conveniently located close to amenities and beach. Nice big space with plenty of beds. We stayed in the 2-storey unit above pool, 2 adults, 2 children plus a baby.

Great to take the hole in the rock boat trip. Very convenient to catch the boat and hope over to Russell for a day trip. Lovely meal and walk at the wineyard in Russell. Lovely time to visit Pahia when it is sunny. Beautiful to spend 4 to 7 days chilling with the perfect sunset and sunrise. The indian restaurant along the beach at pahia is very authentic. Highly recommend pahia roadtrip.

Paihia is a very good place to stay if you want to explore...
Paihia is a very good place to stay if you want to explore Northland. If you are driving, you can go on your own to the tip of the North Island in about 3 hours. You can drive over to the Kauri Forest on the west side in about 1.5 hours. You can get tours out of Paihia for the Bay of Islands, the Ninety Mile Beach/Cape Reinga, Waitangi Treaty Grounds (you can walk there, about 3 km), rent kayaks or paddle boards, get fishing charters, take a ferry to Russell (or drive there). We spent 5 nights there and could have stayed a few more days and done even more.

Paihia is such a beautiful part of New Zealand!
Paihia is such a beautiful part of New Zealand! As the gateway to the Bay of Islands, there is so much to see and do here. There are some incredible restaurants to eat at and my husband highly recommends the Waitangi Golf Club just 5 minutes from Paihia. Definitely add the Bay of Islands to your list of places to visit in the North Island of NZ!

Great town with friendly locals.
Great town with friendly locals. All hospitality options covered, with a bar on a jetty that is very pleasant but always seemed short staffed. Easy walking town and a jetty to Russell with happy staff to greet you.
Visited Pompallier House in Russell which is well worth the visit and again met with lovely friendly greeting and service.

Walking distance to everything you need.
Walking distance to everything you need. Swimming pool is lovely ,but don't forget to bring beach towels. No fresh towel service ,but has washing machine. The two bedrooms are lovely and bonus 2 bathrooms. Great place to stay, will stay again.
Located in the heart of Paihia across the street from the beach, Ala Moana Motel is a fantastic place for travellers to stay in especially if they are travelling in a group. The staff were very friendly and were helpful in getting us settled in, as well as recommending us activities to do in the Bay of Islands. Despite it being our fourth visit, we had a wonderful time and this was enhanced by the accommodation.
This motel is situated on the main strip of Paihia, was easily located. 10 mins walk to the Paihia Ferry harbour. Few minute's walk to the beach. Room was very comfortable and clean. Small kitchen facilities provided. Bathroom was clean and shower was a good size. Very happy with our stay. Friendly staff. Pool was nice as well. Water was a bit cold but since it was a hot day that didn't matter too much.
The Location was fine and in the main area of Paihia ... Unfortunately the 6 bed dorm was cramped with all the various backpacks etc... No fans or aircon just open windows so the room was hot and stuffy, but OK. Only one power point in the room with full power boards. I slept in a top bunk which was an effort for me to climb in and out of without disturbing anyone... Shower was good & hot
We have stayed at the beach house a number of times now and it is always a comfortable and homely stay. We enjoy this house as it is very spacious for the whole family/friends to enjoy. Close to the beach and countdown. The view is delightful, always nice to wake to. This house caters to a group of people (Families, group of friends, colleagues).
Wonderfully run family hotel with friendly service. Willing to go the extra mile fo make guests feel welcome and comfortable with detailed local knowledge. Beautiful views from balcony at sunset and spa bath was a real treat. Good to end stay with delcious freshly ground coffee.

Overall we loved our stay in paihia and in Averill
Was a lovely hotel with good facilities and the rooms had everything you needed. Some of it felt a little tired but this didn't detract from the stay at all. It was a great location, very comfortable beds and would happily stay there again.
Amazing motel room for an amazing price. The units are excellent, clean and tidy! The duty manager is very lovely and made us feel welcomed to Paihia. The swimming pool was clean blue and lovely. Will definitely book again.
Good location not on the busy main strip of Paihia but an easy walk to the main shopping area. Nice pool to enjoy a dip on a hot day. All hotel facilities well maintained. Comfortable room. Plenty of parking on site.
Great room (no 26) on the first floor looking out to sea. Hotel in a great location. The housekeeping staff were all so friendly and looked after us so well. Will come back here next time we're in Paihia.
This hotel is amazing value for money. Location is perfect and the rooms are very comfortable albeit small. The pool was great for kids and the joining rooms made it super easy for our family.
Had my family of 30 for ANZAC weekend at bay of islands holiday park Staff are lovely. Grounds are clean so was our cabins.shared facilities were clean Our money Was well spent here
I attended a Rotary district conference that was based at the hotel. This meant that the hotel was ideal as far as location was concerned. Good views from the room out to sea.
Typical old bach, but charmingly renovated with plenty of nice details. Amazing location right beside Te Tii Marae and just a short walk to Waitangi and the beach.
