There is nothing negative to say about our stay in Wilderness, other than I wish it could have been for longer! Our accomadation at Tranquil Shores, was simply perfect. Our host was so gracious and generous with advise for local activities and attractions. The room we stayed in was lovely and very tastefully decorated.
Honestly this was such a lovely place to spend some time in.

The beaches and views from the top of Hoekwil or Map of Africa are too beautiful. The nature walks and general magical feeling of the place makes it an ideal holiday destination. It is close to the large town of George and Knysna with markets available on Saturdays,
You would need a car to get around Wilderness.

One of the most stunning (and our favourite) beaches in the World.
Plenty of good restaurants - great value.
Loved the view from para gliding site but Map of Africa did not meet expectations.
Very restful / having had busy 3 weeks beforehand.
Restaurants - Las salinas; girls 👧 n the square; joplins steak house; pommodoro - all excellent and good value. Las S was our favourite; walking distance; good food and excellent service.

We stayed three nights in Wilderness and that was probably the perfect length of stay. It's a small town, but a very beautiful location. The long beach is nice, if you like that sort of thing. However, exploring the lagoon on an 'eco-cruise' is a 'must' and probably the most enjoyable adventure on our three-week stay in South Africa. Wilderness is also blessed with some good restaurants, 'The Girls On The Square' deserves an accolade, but 'Serendipity' is in a league of its own - one of the best restaurants I've visited anywhere in the world.

This is an amazingly clean and beautiful property.
This is an amazingly clean and beautiful property. It has a lovely pool with sunbeds and seating area to rear of property and the front of the property overlooks the most stunning beach. Little extras in the room make it absolutely fabulous. The hosts are extremely welcoming and friendly as is the family dog Duke. Would highly recommend.
The chalet is located on a property bordering Rondevlei and Langevlei, two lakes of major importance from a naturalist point of view (RAMSAR areas). For birdwatchers (like me), this is a place of great interest. In addition, Tim (the owner) is also a birdwatcher and was very helpful, offering to guide me to find the difficult endemic birds (Victorin's warbler). We had a great time in this beautiful area of the garden route. Self catering mandatory. The chalet is very well equipped for cooking.
What an amazing relaxing stay in the Wilderness right on the lagoon for swimming, canoeing, bird watching and close to the beach, hikes, restaurants, all adventure activities and the well equipped little Spar.
We loved our excellent, comfortable and super clean accommodation in our well equipped self catering suite. The best was the very friendly and helpful hosts, Nadia and Gert who couldn't do enough to help us with anything we needed, even an early check in.
Absolutely fantastic stay! From arrival to departure, the highlight of our South Africa tour. Incredibly child-friendly with warm hosts. The rooms and lounge areas are modern and new. Perfectly situated by the beach, offering breathtaking views from our bed and private veranda. The breakfast surpassed that of many 5-star hotels. Highly recommend MGM Wilderness—stay a few nights to savor the guest house, the beach, and Wilderness itself.
We arrived at the guest house and stored our luggage in the room and went to Mosselbay to visit friends. We decided to stay with them or book into a hotel. The next morning we went to fetch our luggage. The photos on the website does not justify how it really look. WE DID NOT SLEEP THERE - we wasted over R5000.00.
We stayed at Beach Villa before and wanted to try another guest house but NEVER AGAIN.
Great place with great view of the ocean. We had such a great experience during the day when we saw the whale while on the beach and stars and galaxy observation during the night. Location is great. rooms and beds are comfy. Breakfast was very delicious with place makes feel you are home. Great room service and great hospitality.
Thank you Albert and Tersia for the good time we spend with you
What a great hostel.. location is awesome.. Relaxing environment where I fell asleep with the sound of waves crashing on the beach..
Staff, accommodation, the bar, the wood oven pizza and live music
I really enjoy it all..
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and friendly hostel.
I stayed 3 lovely nights.
This hotel definitely exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was amazing and the food was delicious. Housekeeping was sweet and left us surprises for Easter (cookies and a teddy bear with a handwritten note). We will be staying again :)
Great restaurant; dinner was excellent. It's a family owned hotel and it's great to have non-generic look and feel. On the river. Loved the birds in the garden and the amazing trees. Check in was cutesy with sherry on arrival.
The location is just in front of the ocean. Quiet and safe area, parking available just behind the building. 10 minutes drive from Wilderness and Garden Route national park. Friendly staff. Fully equipped kitchen.
Wonderful location - perched on the hillside, giving you a view of the hills, the main town and the coastline with its sea haze. Tame knysna lourie comes to visit. Self catering room had private balcony.
The view is gorgeous... Green lawns, sand, wide sea and sky.
Walks on the beach can be endless...we had so much fun with our dogs. Pet friendly... please note there are no fences. Good breakfast.
The breakfast was great, however, the coffee dispensed from the machine was not great - this can be improved upon. In general, the hotel was very comfortable and I enjoyed my stay.
We had an exceptional stay at MGM Wilderness. Our room, the property and service were top-notch. Our hosts and their staff members were all extremely kind and caring.
Lovely and quiet hotel along the river. It is a place with history but very modern. The restaurant on the premises is very practical.
Very good breakfast!
A great Hotel near the centre of Wilderness. Lovely breakfast which could be eaten on the terrace weather permitting, Very friendly and informative staff
