San Gil is very turistic and influenced by that. Excellent opportunities for recreation and extreme sports, but the horrid traffic can impact travel. The main route from Bogota' to Bucaramanga goes right through it and can really congest the streets. These are old "horse" cart roads in town and the traffic can be "impressive" and difficult to manage. San Gil as a town is not particularly interesting.
San Gil as a town is not particularly interesting. It's for the adventure activities that one comes. We went rafting on Río Suárez with Colombia Rafting Expediciones and I can only recommend them - professional, well-organised team that guides you through the Class 5 rapids while keeping safety always in mind.

The area around San Gil is great for just about everything.
The area around San Gil is great for just about everything. We had a car so we were able to tour the roads in and around San Gil and it is beautiful, mountainous country. The Cuevas del Vacas is a must see but not for the faint of heart ( we are part of the over 60 crowd and thoroughly enjoyed it)

The ambient of the whole house is cheerful and colourful. The lady who works there prepares delicious breakfasts and cleans everything spotlessly. Definitely one of the best places to stay in San Gil. 5 minutes walk from the centre. One can do so many things in this area. The owner helps you with booking different activities via Whatsapp. Thank you for this beautiful stay.

Spacious balcony with a big sunbed to fit 2 or even 4 people. The family is very nice and helpful. We laughed a lot with them. The temperature of the jacuzzi is perfect and it even has a waterfall. To top it off: the condominium has an enormous outside pool on the top of the mountain with amazing views. Free to use. Not even advertised, but it is incredible 😃😃 The condominium has a gate with security, so safety is a 10

The staff there were some of the friendliest and helpful during my 2 months in Colombia. I even had my dorm bed sheets regularly changed there which certainly doesn't happen everywhere. Special shout out to Danielle and Yims for being super helpful. San Gil itself is all about the activities in the nearby mountains and valleys but the people are very welcoming and friendly.

The shower temperature and pressure was good, which is rare for San Gil. Tatiana, the caretaker was very friendly and despite not speaking much English, was willing to communicate via google translate. the kitchen was large and there was lots of good kitchen ware and a tone of cups. Also there was potable water that we can take.
