Although San Gil / Santander is not on the list of most travellers I met in my way, i find it a pity as this place is more authentic, there is quite lot of things to do and the people are very chilled and easy going compared to for eg Santa Marta. I really wish I had a few more days here.

The Booking.com app turned up this gem of a hotel in Barrancabermeja, where I enjoyed a very pleasant night. It's perfect for a night's stay—it is clean, has strong wifi, is located in in close proximity to restaurants, and has adjacent secure parking. Perfect for breaking up a long journey! Bonus: the unique Cristo Petrolero statue is located only 5 mins away on foot.

Nothing, we just needed to stay there because of the night time of arrival, otherwise I'd rather book somewhere else. They even called the room at midnight because they needed the main guest's name when I checked in at the reception at 7 pm. So unpleasant. Staff is drinking beers at the reception. Nothing professional.
