Very well maintained and clean apartment in Vila Franca do Campo, with everything you would want for a self-catered stay. They provided us a cotbed for our toddler with no problems. Check-in was great and easy, with a lot of very helpful information provided. Plenty of car parking in the surrounding streets, and close proximity to a number of grocery stores and restaurants, make sure to check out the marina and beach area! It was probably our favourite town we visited on the island, which is saying something as we loved everything about Sao Miguel! Vila Franca do Campo is a really good town to base yourself if you have a car, as you are quite central on the island and have direct access to the main roads.

One of the best hotels I discovered in the Azores. The reception: adorable, professional, hyper available, smiling. I had the chance to have a guided tour of the hotel The hotel: a former monastery. It has kept the architect, the atmosphere of the monastery. The Christian symbolic aspects can be found everywhere. But still keeping a great comfort. The room: spaced out, large. Comfortable. The bed, very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious. The views are magnificent (I had a view of the ocean) The breakfast, healthy, natural, sufficient. There are several lounges, terraces with beautiful views. One of the moments that I appreciated the most during my stay

The breakfast was fantastic, with a variety of fresh pastries to start our day. The views of the sea were absolutely stunning, and waking up to the sound of the waves was incredibly peaceful. The room is in the owner's house, so it's not completely isolated, but we felt welcomed. If you're looking for a beautiful retreat, we highly recommend A Villa by The Sea.

We even got a private tour of the establishment to learn about the history and the work that continues to take place to revitalize this site. We appreciated it was supporting the local village and how much care and pride the people had for this place.
