Cook's Cottage is a charming, quirky and unique destination, 200 yards from the sea in the picturesque village of Shaldon. Both dog and children friendly, it is tastefully decorated and fully equipped throughout, with separate kitchen, dining room and lounge as well as 2 bedrooms, one of which can be set up as a king bed or two singles. The woodburner in the lounge is a welcome addition on chillier days. Charming outside space perfect for relaxing at the end of the day. Lots of local facilities and shops within walking distance.
We love to use the cottage when it isn't booked out to guests, but do not live nearby however, the cottage is locally managed, so I can get someone to you in in an emergency plus I will make contact and provide you with loads of info a week before your holiday. The key to the front door is in the key safe, the code for this and the wifi will be supplied a week before your booking starts.
Shaldon is a fabulous village, with so much to offer but without feeling overrun by visitors. The cottage is on the edge of the village with free parking in the road outside (first come, first served) Within a 10 minute walk, there is a village shop, an award winning butcher, bakers, pharmacy, gift shops, hairdressers, dog groomers, as well as a multitude of quality pubs, cafes and restaurants. The river front is 100 yards away, a sandy beach less than 10 minutes walk and a fabulous 'smugglers cove' accessible by a tunnel from the end of the headland behind the 'Ness' and Shaldon Zoo. The botanical gardens are a joy, as well as being free, and a great place to walk with the dog, as are the multitude of footpaths running up into the countryside from the roads behind the cottage, as well as along the coastal paths. There is a foot ferry across to Teignmouth, with all that classic seaside town has to offer
