How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

we have been here many times and always enjoyed Zoe’s lounge. but now they have closed off the entrance and you have to go through a host just to sit at the bar.
classic hotel that caters to both the rich and normal people like us. great ambiance and cool pool!

We found the hotel quite pricey, so requiring us to also pay for internet on a daily basis was just too much especially when many small businesses including Starbucks, supply it for free. The hotel was very accommodating and did provide it for free when I questioned it, however realistically Wifi is a staple nowadays and should be included in the cost of your stay.
The location was so perfect, the hotel is beautiful. No matter where we walked to it was easy to locate our hotel by its majestic presence. Also the beds are extremely comfortable and we really liked that we could open a window to get fresh air.

room was kind of tiny.

We always stay at the Chateau Laurier when we are in Ottawa, it is a family tradition. It's a beautiful, classic hotel in a great location. The staff is exceptional, the two restaurants are great, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean.

The pool is not family friendly at all, more for swimming laps than anything else. Restaurants like Wilfred’s and The Terrace were offensively expensive (12$ Shirley Temples for our one year old?)

Options for dinner were very limited. We ordered breakfast in the room for 7a.m.but it didn't arrive until 7.50 a.m.
Food was excellent. Breakfast and brunch were both delicious. Dinner options were limited particularly in the restaurants. The pool was glorious.

you anticipate much more from the hotel when you look on the building and the pictures. beside it, we reserved two beds room and when arrived there were no two beds room so we got one bed and then they bring another small bed. this kind of hotel supposed to manage better request and rooms…

We like the location. Really enjoyed the dinner on the hotel patio with Parliament Hill view and sunset. Also enjoyed reading the historical pictures and notes posted in the hotel lobby.

The beds were doubles, so it was a little more cozy for me and the family. With a price like that, you would think the wifi would be free, but it wasn't. There was no room in the fridge for our own things.
Location was amazing! We had the most beautiful view of the parliament building! The room was nice and big and you felt like royalty when you were there. The staff were exceptional. There was a movie being filmed in the chateau while we were there. It was very special and I'm glad we took the opportunity to book there. I loved that when we were out and about that it was obviously easy to locate our hotel, you just look up and there it is.

You out side bar and restuant really needs a upgrade menue not very good.Ther should be a choise for bar food to go with the fancy drinks especially mid aftrenoon
