Great experience - the owner is really kind and even though we prepared extensively for the trip, he still had a lot of useful information for us for almost every district in Tokio. The futons were really comfortable and the bathrooms were in a good state. The location was perfect, close to Minami-Senju station. Overall the place was quite cozy and would recommend to anyone!

Guests can choose to stay in rooms with Japanese futon bedding on tatami (woven-straw) floors or in rooms with Western beds on wooden floors. A fridge and an electric kettle with green tea bags are included in each room. All rooms come with an en suite bathroom with a toilet and shower, while some rooms have a bathtub.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay when exploring Tokyo. The location is very close to multiple subway lines, walking distance to Ueno Park (and Zoo). The room (and the whole hotel) is beautifully put together to reflect a traditional Japanese environment. The staff are very nice and friendly. There is also a little alcove to play some board games (some games were there), and the waiting area/dining room is very big. We also booked the private bath which was very relaxing. You do have to make your own beds and put them away but it is very easy (Takes less than 3 mins) and I enjoyed the experience. The neighborhood itself is quiet and charming and seemed quite safe (and family friendly).

Old japanese ryokan tatami floors/futon beds hotel in the heart of one of the most insane pulsing red light districts of the world? Im totally here for it! Location is perfect for Shinkuju/Kabukicho nights (~12min walk from the station, Godzilla and KingKong just behind the corner). It was really unexchangeable experience, for VERY good money, taking into consideration the exquisite location

The ryokan is centrally located in Ueno and convenient for the University of Tokyo. It's a ryokan, so you get a low futon and tatami mats on the floor. They also provide you with a yukata to wear indoors. The owners are lovely, and arranged a late check-in for me without any difficulty. It is excellent value for the price.

This ryokan is absolutely an excellent location where you can spend your time, truly understanding the Japanese culture. We're treated as friends or even family. The room was extremely clean, the onsen has a wonderful view to the Tokyo Sky Tree. The breakfats was a bit too strong for me (fish, vegetables and miso soup), still I appreciated it! We really enjoyed our stay at this Ryokan. The staff (who we think were the owners) were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious enough and quiet and the futon were very comfortable. The location is also very close to both Sendagi subway (direct line to Harajuku) and Nippori station (easy to get to Narita airport and anywhere on the Yamanote line).
