Offering an outdoor pool and spa center, Castanheiro Boutique Hotel is set in Funchal, 1640 feet from Marina do Funchal. From the moment of arrival till the moment of departure, we felt the great loveliness of this hotel. Its staff is very friendly and attentive, speaks English well or very well, and some of them show a great sense of humour. The breakfast is overwhelming in choice and is smoothly organised. We had dinner once in the restaurant called Tipografica: excellent cooking and an extensive wine list. The rooftop pool and bar, as wel as the impressive view on Funchal, are a big plus. The room (junior suite) is large, comfortable, perfectly clean. And above all, the hotel is an attractive building, in the middle of Funchal, though in a quiet street without dozens of tourists. We hope to be back here again in near future!

Located in the hills surrounding Funchal, this 18th-century mansion is set in extensive botanical gardens with 600 different plant species. All rooms have balconies overlooking the gardens. Exquisite botanical garden hotel with superb service and tranquility. The garden is beautiful with many exotic plants we have never seen before...not even in tropical jungles. The pool area and sun beds are very luxurious and everything is maintained to the highest possible degree. Breakfast service is a chapter of its own. Sitting in the garden you are served a delicious breakfast with a huge selection of eggs, pastries, sandwiches, yogurt and fruit. We highly recommend this hotel and will surely visit again on our next trip to Madeira.

Orquidea opens out on to an extra-large rooftop terrace, overlooking Funchal and the Atlantic Ocean. This is a great-value hotel, simple and a little old and worn (call is "classic"!), but comfortable; the location is perfect; the staff was very friendly and helpful (Ronnie was the best!); it was very cheap, the breakfast was decent with a beautiful view. Overall, we got more than we expected and more than we paid for. Thank you!

Absolutely gorgeous hotel with amazing views! Perfect location within walking distance to many restaurants! Free undercover parking in the garage was a nice bonus! the pool deck and pool are amazing & pool bar staff was the best after a long day of hiking! The breakfast buffet was perfect to fill up before starting a full day of exploring! I will stay here again!

Set in lush, landscaped gardens, 5-star Quintinha São João features a spa and indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools. Overlooking central Funchal and the bay, it is 1.2 mi from Funchal Cathedral. Beautiful hotel, room was very comfortable, restaurant exceptional, staff fantastic couldn't have been better.

Set in a historic building of central Funchal, Monte Carlo features a large elevated terrace and roof-top pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. It is located only 2625 feet from the Funchal Marina. I love the service! The girls on desk is lovely. One is from madeira… the others is from Colombia! Amazing service! The last guy I don’t like the style is not friendly

Located conveniently in the Sao Pedro district of Funchal, Hotel GORDON is located a 15-minute walk from Almirante Reis Beach, 1.9 miles from Gorgulho - Gavinas Beach and a 8-minute walk from Marina... Great location easy to get in and out of with parking on site. Quiet street to be able to rest after long days of hiking. Nice terrace to relax with a book.

Urban Paradise by Madeira Sun Travel enjoys a location in Funchal, 8 miles from Girao Cape and 24 miles from Santana's Traditional Houses. Very clean and nice! Good communication from host.

Apartments Madeira Funchal City in Funchal provides adults-only accommodations with a rooftop pool and a garden. There's a private entrance at the apartment for the convenience of those who stay. Very nice apartment, well equipped and clean. Location was also good as everything important is within walking distance.
