This is a special place. The grounds of the guesthouse are beautifully landscaped, and the rooms, in a structure that is a former school house, are lovely! Leisl has thought of every possible thing to add to comfort for guests, and she and Willie are exceptional hosts. The breakfast was delicious as well, and there are sweet golden retrievers to pet, if you choose!

The facility is right at the main road but still quiet. Lovely Charlene just became my new favourite host out of all my travels through South Africa as she and her staff make Piet Retief a worthy stopover. Breakfast and dinner at the adjacent Mama Mia restaurant were as exquisite as it gets.

We were there with our family and when she noticed that I had problems walking, she helped us to move to a room closer to our family. Facilities were clean and neat.
