Location is absolutely beautiful. Owner Hero-san knows everything about Yakushima & suggested us how to get to the places & times of buses. Last day, he sent us to local home cooking restaurant/Cafe which we thought incredibly charming & food was excellent !

The Guesthouse is surrounded by beauty, including a great view of the stars at night. The other guests were respectful and fun to be around. People often gathered in the kitchen area in the evenings. I did not have a car on the island and relied on the public bus. The ride from the ferry is about 1 hour. This also limited me to 1-2 excursions per day, but I did not feel limited in my experience. I would recommend getting the bus pass and paying close attention to the timetable to plan your day(s). The host is also very knowledgeable and can give you advice.

I loved the location near the river and waterfall. It’s a high quality and high value hostel in an area that feels remote but worked out surprisingly well for buses to hiking areas. We took the early arriving boat to Miyanoura and could do two long trails in two days. The snack bar and ability to request bento boxes with advance notice are helpful for hikers. The owner speaks English and is willing to answer questions. We met other travelers in the common area.

The owner Hiro was so kind!! I wish I could’ve stayed longer. His Hostel was one of the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in and it smelled so lovely. Only a 1 hour walk to the senpiro waterfall viewing point, but there is beautiful view of a stream right next to the house.

The location is in a very natural environment bathed in the sound of a nearby river. It is remote in a soothing way. Perfect for a proper retreat or relaxing place after an excursion.

Hostel owner is the best! He knows everything and I love how his eyes sparkled even though he has repeated this info for years :)) You can get some food from the hostel if you don’t have time to buy dinner.

Clean guesthouse and in a beautiful location. Hiro was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable with planning routes and transport. Some food can be purchased at very reasonable price which you cook yourself. Other guests were very nice and friendly. The whole island is beautiful and people are incredibly kind and welcoming.

The owner was so helpful that he even explained meticulously everything to me about going around Yakushima. As a first time tourist in the Island, I just did everything he told me especially going to Shiratani and it was perfect. I stayed only for a night but I felt like I've experienced a lot of things already. Thank you so much Hiro san. I hope to see you again soon maybe around August.

Hiro-san was extremely kind, helpful, and very good at English. He even helped me get a rental car while I was busy hiking since I booked on short notice and couldn’t find one. He gave me a ton of advice and checked in each day to see how things went and give me suggestions for the next day. The hostel accommodations were nice and clean. The buds were comfortable and my room had an air conditioner. The location is easily accessible by bus and very quiet. There’s a big parking lot and it’s close to waterfalls and really good onsen.
