It's a good little place for a stop off before going to the Amazon. Apart from the Teatro Amazonas, there are some nice galleries off the square to check out. There was a young lady who spoke good English and walked me around the exhibitions and explained the history to me.
Set by the giant Amazonas river and far from everything else. The lifestyle is profoundly shaped by it and depended on it! Villages built on water. Everything transported by water. And, of course, the Amazon forest! By far the main attractive of the region.
Downtown is not no nice apart the Teatro Amazonas. The Orla of Ponta Negra is quite lively during day and evening. The best of Manaus is that is a starting place for some interesting excursion.
Good as a stopping off point for Amazon tours - not much to do in the town - see the Teatro Amazonas and the square, pick up a few bits before your tour... and that is about it!!
If you want to see the Amazon Rain Forrest, Manaus is a good place to start. The food is nice and you must try some of the Amazon River Fish (Tambaqui) There are some interesting buildings to see (Theatre Amazonas) however there is a lot of crime in the city (robberies) and you need to be careful when out and about in the city centre (no fancy watch or jewellery to be worn). In addition the Heat and humidity can be oppressive.
Teatro Amazonas is a must. The tours of the theatre are free and start at 09:45 hours. The tour is a very comprehensive look at the theatre. Well worth going. The Cathedral and San Francisco Church are worth visiting as well as the Governor's Building. We found a very good restaurant at Villa Amazonas Hotel, close to the Teatro Amazonas. This is a new hotel that opened in April 2016 and had I known about would have probably stayed there.
Having lived in Brazil for 20 years in the past, Manaus surprised me by how large, relatively organized and clean it was! the people are very pleasant and proud of their city. The Teatro Amazonas is spectacular - we were able to catch a local choral presentation at night! Highly recommend a river tour. We did a day tour, but in the future I would consider going back and taking a multiple day tour with accommodation somewhere along the river!
The teatro Amazonas is a must-see. We were lucky to see one of Wagner's opera in a special program for kids on a Saturday morning. The municipal market is also very interesting . But the best thing to do is to spend some days in the jungle. It takes just an hour and a half to get there an it is unforgettable. Our six year old enjoyed it a lot. We bought a package of 4 days at the Manati Lodge in the Rio Negro and it was perfect. The guides were nice, responsible and excellent in every sense. The food there was incredible (a peruvian chef), all the tours were perfect. You don`t have to expect to see lots of animals (dolphins, an occasional monkey, caymans, birds, and that's it) but unbelievable flora. Really worth it
Manaus is very large city of two million people in the middle of the rain forest. Today Manaus is congested with traffic and its natural beauty hidden by luxury condominiums. If you can ferret them out there are some gems in Manaus, such as the Teatro de Amazonas (don't miss the upstairs);, MUSA (a new museum on the edge of town); INPA (a scientific institute whose zoo is a marvelous window in Amazonian research;, SESC (a municipal theatre); Alberto Lisboa Market; and the river itself. Don't leave Manaus without taking a boat trip up the beautiful Rio Negro to Anavilhanas!
As an European, going to Manaus, the heart of Amazonas state of Brazil, was sort of fulfilling a life time's dream. Therefore I have to admit that details such as "how good was the breakfast?" are absolutely insignificant... (the breakfast was OK, by the way). I would have gladly used the pool on the roof of the hotel (which is perhaps its main asset because from the height you can have a wonderful panorama of the city) but on the day when I had the availability to do it, a small storm broke out.
Amazing breakfast with so many options to choose from - one of the best I have ever had! Same is valid for the traditional afternoon tea - simply delicious and very popular with the locals! The location is also great very close to Teatro Amazonas and other attractions in the city center incl. the port area that can be easily reached on foot. Staff was always friendly and tried to help and solve the issues.
This hotel is really functional for you stance in Manaos. Everything’s work fine, the breakfast is really good and the Internet works perfectly if you’re working remotely. The ubication is perfect because you’re near to the Teatro Amazonas, the center, the main market and the port to get touristic activities.
Manaus
Good location - just around the corner from the main square (Teatro Amazonas). Staff are pleasant and helpful if there’s a problem. Hostel is cute with lots of art and lots of space for guests. There is free coffee all day. Communal working areas and kitchen.
The hotel is cozy and sumptuous. You feel like you are in a Rubber Barron’s guest house. The location is great and secure. The staff are attentive and reliable. The decor reflects pride in the Amazonas region.
Manaus
The best breakfast I’ve ever had in a hostel Location is fantastic, a few steps from the Amazonas theatre and main square but still feels like you can escape the city Staff are super helpful and friendly
Perfect location next to Teatro Amazonas, main square. High quality hotel. Great swimming pool. Good breakfast.
Location is the historic center and in front of amazonas theatro. The hotel is well decorated with old stuff.
The hotel’s location. It was only 6 minutes walking to the Amazonas theater and other touristic places.
Was close to the shopping mall „Amazonas“. Breakfast was great. Hotel was clean
Everything, especially the people who worked there.
The staff was so kind in accommodating a nice packaged Bfast for us as we had to depart for a tour before they open. That was great
Excellent breakfast. Large clean rooms and decent WiFi.
Front reception staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. They accommodated my changing travel plans, phoned car service and taxis for me and stored my luggage while I was in Amazonia. Super patient with my limited Portuguese. I stayed extra days because the staff was so kind and friendly.
Room views were amazing, very large room, comfortable temperature. Amazing rooftop.
Excellent location. Excellent breakfast. They let us to leave our bags for free for 5 days while we were on a tour. Kitchen staff was nice! They offer meals at nigth for a low price.
The food is amazing with local traditional dishes, delicious salad, and dessert. The bedrooms have private bath, air conditioning, toiletries and hair dryer.
Let me tell you, this is N incredible experience, the vessel it’s very comfortable, clean, great air conditioning all around, the services is fantastic!!!!
